Carpet
types
Before purchasing a new carpet for your home or business, it is
worth looking up the most suitable type for your purposes.
If you look at my blog you may find
further information relating to experience's I have had recently
and think may be useful to potential purchasers of new carpet etc.
Very
light high ridge carpet will show signs of wear very quickly if
there is lots of traffic, the ridges become flattened and this in
turn sometimes makes the carpet appear to be dirty or worn.
Many deep carpet piles also have the same effect if the furniture
is left in static positions for long periods.
The
majority of carpets sold today are made from nylon fibers twisted
into yarns and then tufted into carpet. How long a carpet will retain
it's like new texture and appearance is based on the type of fiber,
how tight the yarns are twisted and heatset, and the pile density.
(Obviously, not cleaning your carpets regularly, or improper cleaning
methods will effect the appearance as well.) Also, how close tufts
are to one another will effect the durability of the carpet.

Although
the common carpet types haven't really changed that much, the carpet
technology has dramatically improved over time. Today's carpet manufacturers
are combining softer fibers, better stain resistance with backings
that block odors, spills and more! These types of features are built
into the better-quality carpets offered by the leading carpet manufacturers.
Most carpet today is tufted, rather than woven
Below
is a brief overview of the most common carpet construction types
sold today.
